Report on the ‘Amateur Scientifics’ Website.

Green - Good Points Red - Improvements/Issues

Text amended by AFH re action.

Preliminary Notes:

All links and pagetops work quickly. No issues with this page.

I was unable to access the website on my computer or my laptop on multiple browsers. The error I was given was that the site is ‘insecure’. So I accessed it through my phone. You should be ble to do this with your hosting provider.

Talk Summary:

All Links and page tops work, the email and the phone number also worked perfectly. I have no problems with this page however…

Make it more eye-catching. Maybe some colour or pictures to make this page more engaging.

Talk Notes - Page 1:

The links to access the different pages all work. All pagetops work and they are in good places on the page. Good amount of pagetops.

One page top after ‘Re Question 4,’ is smaller than the others and is unreadable to some because of its size. I would recommend you make them all the same size.

Talk Notes - Pages 2 and 3:

On page 2 the first ‘here’ under ‘Head for the moon? A new world?’ Is too small. Make it the same size as the other text. At the bottom of page 2 I don't see a page 3 link however there is a page 1 link. Also could be an idea to add page 1 and 2 links at the end of page 3?

I really liked these pages they were easy to use and to navigate around and i loved the stuff from Brian Cox. Just remember to keep people engaged and make them want to read it by making your website eye catching.

A personal Note:

I have no problems with this page at all. It’s not too big, it is clear and all the links work! :)  Introduction: Again, no improvements to make here. I like the way it is laid out and it’s a good length. Everything works here, all the links and sources etc.

Talk 50 Mins:

I really like this page. Mainly because it’s eye-catching with all of these images and colours. No issues with links and everything works fine on this page.

After ‘continuing with Stephen Hawking:’ The link is just in the ‘s’ of accounts. Not sure if this was an accident or not. Apart from that, I don't have any suggestions for this page.

Planetarium Book:

This page is nice but…

The images are too big maybe just reduce them slightly so they don't take up the whole screen.

All links work.

Preliminary Terms:

Nothing wrong with this page as far as I can see there are no typos and links work fine.

The Big Bang:

From the second you open this page you can see the contents and a diagram. This is very eye-catching and helps to explain the big bang.

There's a little too much information. When people first come in it looks interesting but then there's so much information I don't know if people will read it all.

The Universe:

you could add some more links at the beginning under the ‘SAE’. You could make Earth a link and Solar System a link. Also the ‘Local Group’ Link is black all the others are red. There is an image that you can't see. Number 8 the most detailed image of the universe.

Everything works. All the links are okay.

Galaxies, sand and The solar system:

I have the same comment for all these so put them into one. They are all a reasonable size and work well no typos or issues and all links seem okay.    All others that haven’t been mentioned are all working fine and I have no suggestions for them.

SUMMARY:

  1.  I spent a long time reading through this website and checking all links work.

  2. Overall I like the website and the layout and I like the contact page.

  3. I would recommend including Twitter in the contact page so that there is more on a the? page.

  4. All the links, Email and phone work perfectly and pagetops are okay.

  5. I do like the website but some parts need to be more eye-catching to make the audience feel engaged in what they are reading.

  6. There is some great information here and I think it's great,

  7. I only had an issue trying to access it on a computer.

  8. It's a bit too many words for a website i think people will get bored.
